Title: Lead BSA – PeopleSoft- Financials

Location: Portland, OR

Duration: contract to hire

Immediate opening for Senior Business Systems Analyst providing technical leadership and support for the PeopleSoft Financials system and related, custom systems within our client’s Finance Department.

Core Duties:

  • Work well in a team environment, providing technical leadership and staff support for the PeopleSoft Financials system. Serve as technical lead over some or all aspects of assigned information systems and/or applications development, support and implementation projects
  • Resolve complex PeopleSoft Financials application issues in the areas that include updates, implementation, systems analysis, design, development and support of the system
  • As a member of a cross-functional project team, provide technical leadership for implementation of additional PeopleSoft modules or other financial system implementations
  • Provide technical oversight to staff responsible for the maintenance of both delivered and custom-built solutions
  • Create technical and written documentation and train staff in appropriate documentation strategies and practices
  • Understanding of appropriate industry best practices for Peoplesoft financials and how to remediate both process and technical debt.
  • Prepare specifications for an enhancement or new application and train Financial Systems staff on the approved approach
  • Provide development/troubleshooting/debugging support on assigned applications and coach Financial Systems staff on the approved approach
  • Participate in the evaluation and testing of system upgrades; install or upgrade to software applications; troubleshoot hardware and software-related problems and train Financial Systems staff on the approved approach
  • Develop standards for testing and documentation within the lifecycle of a typical system deployment/upgrade and implement these with the Financial Systems staff
  • Document business process improvement efforts using base practices; advise on production support issues
  • Participate in or oversee quality assurance procedures for information systems services related to Finance and review new vendor software of compliance with established strategic objectives
  • Apply basic project management methodologies with particular attention to managing scope and schedule and coach staff on the application of these within their workstreams
  • Work in collaboration with technical IT resources to develop estimates and implementation plans for technical solutions to business needs within approved budgets

Qualifications and Education

  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financials 9.0 and above
  • Experience with complex process and system requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative descriptions
  • Experience with process analysis, systems analysis, process architectures and systems analysis methodologies and practices including Waterfall and Agile
  • Strong understanding of best practice coding techniques and testing skills/methodologies
  • Excellent analytical skills, debugging techniques and root cause analysis skills
  • Experience developing functional test plans, test scripts, executing testing and coordinating user acceptance testing efforts for PeopleSoft and related applications
  • Technical supervisory skills; ability to give clear direction on technical expectations and coach team members’ growth in the requisite technical competencies
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills and a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Creative problem solving/strategic thinking skills to improve processes and solve complex problems
  • Ability to understand when escalation is appropriate
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, take initiative and work well under pressure
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in computer science, information science or a closely related field. Work experience may be a substitute for a degree.
