Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The purpose of this position is to protect the integrity of Integrated Health Record by identifying and verifying existing patients with multiple medical record numbers and combining all health record data into an accurate single MRN, and correct individual account encounters.

As part of the HIM Patient Index team, this position's primary responsibilities include coordinating & updating accurate patient information between hospital information systems. These systems include, but are not limited to: Epic, OnBase, Solarity and any medical record documentation that resides within paper charting. The result of this role’s actions ensures all documentation is accurate, billable, and supports patient care.

This position is also responsible for facilitating, activating and deactivating users to Epic & Community Connect and work closely with Healthcare Business Applications group.

As specific procedures change with the implementation of new software and system interfaces, a focus of this position is the ongoing developments of written procedures for the coordination of IHR merge/unmerge of records Assists HIM management and System Analyst team in identifying and troubleshooting functionality related to record management systems, and patient identity activity. 1 initiate procedure for combining medical record of patients with more than one medical record number in order to initiate IHR maintenance functions.

Required Skills:

  • An Associate’s degree in computer science or related field: Or Two years of computer support experience: OR An equivalent combination of training and/or experience
  • Computer related & MS Office proficiency. Epic, CareEverywhere
  • High degree of knowledge of complete workflow procedures within entire HIM department
